G20 summit 2023 events, the much-awaited moment, the day 1 of summit has started with the arrival of delegates from 9.20 AM to 10.20 AM. All delegates were welcomed heartily by Prime Minister Modi at Bharatmandapam.
Day 1 events
Session 1 started from 10.30 AM. to 1.30 PM. The theme of the session was “One Earth”. The PM addressed the summit about Earth. After 1.30 PM to 3 PM, windows started for bilateral meetings and other meetings between countries. The next session was about the theme of one family, which started from 3 PM to 4.45 PM, and then from 4.4 PM to 5.30 PM windows again started for meetings. Then dinner was hosted by President Murmu from 7 p.m. to 10.15 p.m.
Themes of Day 1
Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam, which stands for one earth, one family, and one future, served as the theme of the entire G20 conference. Day 1’s first two sessions focused on one earth and one family, respectively. We convene at a pivotal point in history where the choices we make today will define the destiny of our people and our planet, according to G20 materials. We vow to taking specific steps to address global concerns with the attitude of living in harmony with our surrounding ecosystem.
Welcoming delegates by the president
As the dinner was hosted by the president for G20 delegates at the G20 summit 2023, President Murmu and Prime Minister Modi welcomed each guest again.The venue for dinner was arranged at Bharatmandapam.
Apart from foreign leaders and heads of delegation, chief ministers of all the states, cabinet and state ministers, secretaries in the Central government, and other distinguished guests have been invited to the gala dinner that will be held at the multi-function hall of the Bharat Mandapam on September 9. Among those invited for the dinner are former Prime Ministers Manmohan Singh and HD Deve Gowda and various chief ministers of different states.
Global Biofuel Alliance
So far, both G20 members and non-member nations have consented to join the Global Biofuel Alliance, making a total of 19 nations and 12 international bodies. The alliance’s original members are the US, Brazil, and India.
The partnership was announced by the prime minister in the presence of several leaders, including Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio da Silva, Argentinean President Alberto Angel Fernández, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, and US President Joe Biden.
Argentina, Canada, Italy, South Africa, and Brazil are the other G20 members that support the idea in addition to India, Brazil, and the US. The G20 invited nations include Bangladesh, Singapore, Mauritius, and the United Arab Emirates.
Iceland, Kenya, Guyana, Paraguay, Seychelles, Sri Lanka, Uganda, and Finland are among the non-G20 nations that are interested in joining the alliance. Additionally, interested international and multilateral organizations include the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, World Economic Forum, World LPG Organization, UN Energy for All, UNIDO, Biofutures Platform, International Civil Aviation Organization, International Energy Agency, International Energy Forum, International Renewable Energy Agency, and World Biogas Association.
About 85% of the world’s production and 81% of its consumption of ethanol are contributed by the three founding members of the alliance: the US, India, and Brazil.
Konark wheel in background showcase
From the monuments of the Sun Temple at Konark, Odisha, the wheel of the temple was displayed as a background showcase during the welcoming of all delegates during invite hour of the G20 Summit 2023 events. Prime Minister Modi has explained the wheel and its history to the delegates of the G20, especially to Joe Biden, president of the United States of America.
Dinner Menus for the G20
The world leaders and delegates were served unique Indian delicacies at the official G20 gala dinner hosted by President Droupadi Murmu at Bharat Mandapam in Delhi.
The heads of state and other world leaders were treated to a unique dining experience, with meals served on silver and gold-plated utensils, showcasing glimpses of India’s rich culture and heritage.The dinner menu for the G20 was designed as per ayurvedic advice for whatever to eat in the autumn season.

Name changed to Bharat
The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, used the name Bharat instead of India in the name plates during the G20 summit nameplates. Although PM Modi has seated behind a nameplate that mentions Bharat, in the theme of the G20 summit both names mention Bharat as well as India.
