Elon Musk’s Change
Elon Musk, the owner of site X (previously Twitter), has chosen to exclude the headline and text from links to news articles posted on the site, leaving just the lead image. Musk’s primary goal is probably to persuade the audience to spend more time on Platform X and to choose to subscribe for additional information.
Impact on users
Currently, news links appear as cards on user timelines with an image, source address, and a headline; this kind of packaging encourages clicks and aids publishers in gaining readers.
However, the new functionality may lead to users adding text to their posts, and eventually, users who subscribe to X’s premium service will be able to publish up to 25,000 characters.
Chance to content creators
Musk is attempting to transform X into a modern, effective platform for content producers with this update. Longer films can now be posted by premium subscribers, who also get a share of ad revenues and have their posts displayed higher in the feed.
