China claims Arunachal Pradesh in new map: India protests strong

BRICS summit to new map

Last week, during the BRICS summit, both the Indian prime minister and Chinese president agreed to solve border issues and reduce tension along the border. But on Monday, China’s Surveying and Mapping Publicity Day and National Mapping Awareness Week publicity week published a map of China that included Arunachal Pradesh as the southern part of Tibet. Not only was it part of India, but it also included the disputed South China Sea on the map.

From ministry of external affairs

The official spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs said that this is not the first time such activity has been practiced by China; it has done so for a long time, but each time India has claimed that Arunachal Pradesh was an uninterrupted part of the nation and will continue in the future.

The Ministry of External Affairs announced that it had contacted its Chinese counterpart to object to this map, but what reply came from China was not announced.

Old habit of china

During the month of April this year, China tried to give different names to 11 different places in Arunachal Pradesh, and at that time India declined this claim by China.

Foreign ministers reply

Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar also denied this map and said this is an old habit of China regarding the wrong mapping of its border. China is mapping such places, which are not its own; it is an old habit of China. Nothing will happen to the sovereignty of India by including some parts of it. Our government is clear about its own borders. This childish activity by China will not increase the border, S. Jaishankar said.

From Congress leader Tewari

Congress leader Tewari said that China must end its occupation of Indian territory.

“Today, the real issue between India and China is that they have transgressed along the Line of Actual Control at multiple points on a theater level. Analysts believe that the Chinese are currently in occupation of 2,000 square kilometers of Indian territory. This is the territory that the [Indian] government needs to get vacated,” Tewari said.

“Under those circumstances, the government should seriously consider—though the G20 is a multinational forum—whether it would be in accordance with India’s self-respect to be feting a person in Delhi, Xi Jinping, who is in illegal occupation of 2,000 square kilometers of Indian territory.”
