Prime Minister Narendra Modi culminated the second phase of the “Meri Maati Mera Desh” campaign by taking part in the Amrit Kalash Yatra and consecration of the Amrit Mahotsav Smarak on the concluding day in Delhi. The event held a poignant significance, symbolizing homage to the valiant Veers and Veeranganas who dedicated their lives to the nation’s service.
The MMMD initiative, launched on August 9, 2023, aimed to honor and remember the gallant individuals who made the supreme sacrifice for the country. It encompassed a multi-tiered approach, involving citizens from villages to national levels in activities such as the creation of Amrit Vatikas, tree plantations, Veeron ka Vandan (Tribute to Heroes), and Panch Pran ceremonies.
The second phase of the campaign, commenced on September 1, 2023, fostered the Amrit Kalash Yatras across various districts and villages. Throughout September, soil and rice were collected in the Kalash, which then embarked on a journey through different administrative levels. From village to block, and from the capital city of each State/UT, these Kalashes ultimately convened in Delhi from October 28th to 30th for the campaign’s conclusion.
The Amrit Mahotsav Smarak inauguration, a part of the celebrations marking the completion of India’s Amrit Mahotsav of Freedom, carried immense significance. During the ceremony, Prime Minister Modi paid respects to the Bharat Kalash placed on the Kartavya Path, emphasizing the initiative’s aim of acknowledging the supreme sacrifice of our armed forces.
Under this campaign, over 2 lakh “Veeron ka Vandan” events were organized across the nation, more than 2.36 crore indigenous plants were planted, and approximately 2.63 lakh Amrit Vatikas were created in line with the Vasudha Vandana theme. Moreover, over 2.3 lakh Shilaphalakams (memorials) were established across 36 states and union territories, marking a massive participation in honoring the sacrifices made for the nation’s freedom.
In addition to these activities, more than 4 crore selfies were uploaded, showcasing the widespread engagement and resonance of the campaign across various sections of society. The “Mera Yuva Bharat” platform, which was launched during the event, holds the promise of involving India’s youth in nation-building programs, providing them with a unified platform to contribute actively to the country’s development, as articulated by the Prime Minister in his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ address.
The Amrit Kalash Yatra, with its representation from over 6 lakh villages and urban areas, stands as a testament to the unity and collective tribute paid to our nation’s heroes through the collection of soil and rice. The engagement and enthusiastic participation in this initiative underscore the country’s commitment to honoring the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters.
The amalgamation of soil from diverse regions symbolizes the unity of the nation and the resolve to perpetuate the legacy of the brave hearts who secured India’s freedom. The Meri Maati Mera Desh campaign signifies not just a tribute but a commitment to uphold and preserve the values for which these heroes fought and sacrificed.
The widespread engagement, diverse activities, and collective participation from citizens across various segments of society reflect a shared sentiment of respect and gratitude towards the nation’s defenders. The campaign’s success lies not just in its activities but also in the spirit of unity and reverence it instilled among the people, fostering a sense of national pride and solidarity.
